Congratulations to our winners!

Pocono High SchoolCongratulations! After much thought and careful evaluation, the decision to award the top prize of $2,500 to the 2009 CHANCE Idol Contest entry, The Three R's, performed by Carrie Strunk and Clare Kelly East Pocono High School has been decided.

The CHANCE team of judges felt that not only was this video exemplar, but the envisioned environmental project, which will use the prize money to create a community garden and an outdoor theater on a parcel of land on the East Pocono High School campus was a wonderful and worthy endeavor. The judges agree that this garden/theatre will give your community a place to gather for special events such as an Earth Day celebration, and will also nurture the environment.

CHANCE's number one mission is to enhance environmental education. A global environmentally-centered education seeds good citizens of the Earth and a stable and productive environment for all life to enjoy. The judges felt that their project fulfills the CHANCE mission. Carrie and Clare will be celebrated at an official award's ceremony at their school in September 2009! Dr. Richard Alley, Nobel Laureate and Evan Pugh Professor of Geosciences, The Pennsylvania State University, will be singing his environmental version of Proud Mary at the official award ceremony, and the winning video will be showcased as well.

CHANCE is so proud of  this year's winners!!
