Melanie is currently teaching 9th grade Biology at William Allen High School in Allentown, Pa. She has been teaching there for 3 years. Melanie incorporates her travel experiences in all of her daily lessons. She tells stories and shares photographs with her students to place emphasis on appreciation of biodiversity and ecology. The Allentown School district is considered an urban school district where many of the students have no knowledge or exposure to nature or unique living organisms. Melanie encourages her students to investigate current environmental topics and present concepts to their classmates. Melanie’s other interest include travel, skiing, running, reading, hiking, camping.
